The concentration of Fe, Pb and Zn in water of Laobie Pond and Liugang Pond of mining subsidence area in Huainan were researched using atomic absorption spectrometry. The results showed that the pollution in these areas was quite severe. The content of Fe was 3 and 5.9 times more than the quality standard for Centralized drinking surface water in Laobie Pond and Liugang Pond respectively. The concentration of Pb accorded with the fourth and fifth grade of the environmental quality standards for surface water in Laobie Pond and Liugang Pond. While Zn in both ponds was in accord with the fifth grade of the quality standard.
