林大钦生活在明代嘉靖年间,此时主流的诗歌创作或仿唐或仿宋,独有林大钦,由于自己的生活环境和特殊生活经历,他的大部分诗歌却明显地学习陶渊明。他的诗歌的总体特征是既能把情、景、事、理熔于一体,在质朴中阐明一种哲理,又能借意象表达他的审美情趣,同时,诗歌中还带有浓郁的潮汕地方特色,从而形成了自己独特的艺术风格。

Lin Daqin s poems have various styles,that is,having emotions,scenes,truth mixed together,expounding a kind of philosophy in a modest way,and also expresseing his aesthetic temperament and interest.On the other hand,a rich characteristic style of Chaozhou locality has been revealed in his poems.
