关于大学英语专业文学课的调查与思考

The Research and Reflection on the Literary Course of the English Majors——Taking the Elective Course "The British and American Women Writers and Their Works" for the English Majors in Nantong University for Example

英语文学课是我国高校英文本科专业的主干课程之一,然而因为某些实用主义观念的影响,同时由于英语文学教育本身在课程设置、教学内容、教学手段等方面存在的问题,致使英语文学课处于不受重视也不受欢迎的尴尬地位。本文就南通大学的一门英语专业选修课"英美女作家与作品"针对222位选课学生作了调查,并采访了教授这门课的资深教师,综合师生双方的态度与看法提出对这门课的改进意见,进而表达对英语文学教育的改革愿望。

The English Literary Course is one of the main courses for the undergraduates majoring in English. However, the influence of some pragmatic ideology, plus the problems of the course offered in the university, the content of the course, the approach of education and so on, puts the English Literary Course in an embarrassing position, neither valued nor welcomed. This paper takes the elective course ＂The British and American Women Writers and Their Works＂ for the English Majors in Nantong University for example; by inquiring 222 English majors who elected the course and interviewing an experienced teacher of this course, it puts forward some suggestions to improve the course based on the attitude and view of both the teacher and the undergraduates, and then expresses the wish to reform the English literary education.
