现代文学史上享有盛誉的作家沈从文在他创作早期（1923～1929）经济上始终处于穷困潦倒的状态。但这段经济困顿时期对他产生了巨大的影响，首先，直接使他走向了职业作家的道路，成为中国最早的职业作家，其次，促使他成了现代文学史上最多产的作家之一，当然，由于作品的匆匆急就，也使他创作带有鲜明的素材性质。

The history of modern literature prestigious writer Shen Cong-wen remained impoverished all his early state （ 1923 - 1929）. This time of economic hardship had a dramatic impact on him.
