摘要
通识课程和专业课程之间并不总是一种此长彼消的关系,我们要重视专业课程中通识内涵的开掘。通识教育不应该仅仅关注知识的广度方面,教育的广度要以深度为载体。通识教育的要义之一是求通,唯有在足够深度的基础上才可能使学生领悟通达之道。大学教育必须拒绝肤浅。通识教育的优势不但体现于专业领域之外,更为重要的是要使学生有可能从中汲取一份更加通透的感悟,从而在专业的思考上也能够胜人一筹。通识教育必须在少而精的课程框架内构筑,不应提倡"淡化专业"的口号。
General education and specialized education are not mutually exclusive. Major courses should also address universal knowledge. In terms of education, the depth of knowledge is always a foundation of its width. The essence of general education lies in the pursuit of thoroughfare, which couldn't be realized without a certain depth of knowledge. Superficial knowledge should be ruled out in college education. The advantage of general education lies not only in the knowledge beyond one's specialty, but also in a universal understanding of truth which will benefit one's major study. As for the curriculum development of general education, courses should be few but excellent. "Dilute specialty" is not a right slogan.
