The Development of Tujia School Education in the West of Hubei Province during Ming and Qing Dynasties

鄂西土家族地区历史上较长时期内没有正规的学校教育。明清时期，随着中央王朝的实力增强，土司制度得以完善，鄂西土家族地区的学校教育才空前发展起来，并促进了土家族地区的社会和文化的发展。

There was no regular school education for Tujia ethnic group for a long time in the west of Hubei province. With the strengthened position of central government and the perfect system of Tusi, the school education for Tujia ethnic group developed rapidly during Ming and Qing dynasties in the west of Hubei province. It promoted the development of society and culture in Tujia ethnic group areas.
