Dongfang Shuo recorded that the given name of Qu Yuan was Ping, which was also echoed in the works of Sima Qian and Liu Xiang. Wang Chong took Yuan as the courtesy name of Qu Yuan, and Ping, the given name. Wang Yi definitely noted that the given name of Qu Yuan was Ping. From then on, there were no printing errors on this issue. Considering Anthology, there is no stylistic rule that all articles anthologized should be attributed to their authors in courtesy name. In this case, Qu Yuan is one of the exceptions. The Five - Officials' - Annotation of Anthology is absurd, meager, phrase - mongering and preposterous so that it cannot be taken as evidence. In Divination and Fisherman, the initial statement that "Quyuan was sent into exile" and the repeated sentence that "Qu Yuan said" in many paragraphs are actually the genre of Qu Yuan' s poems, which can not be taken as the evidence to deny Qu Yuan as the author of these two poems. In fact, Divination was written by Quyuan in a place named Ying in the 18th year under the reign of King Huai of the Chu Kingdom, which had happened before he was appointed to Qi Kingdom in the same year. Fisherman was written in the region south of Yangtze River nearly to his suicide day.
