The importance: of passivation for zinc plating was expatiated. The hexavalent chromium passivation processes were summarized, including high-chromium passivation, low-chromium passivation, intermediate-chromium passivation, ultralow-chromium passivation, silvery white passivation, low-chromium black passivation, and ultralow- chromium bluish white passivation. Some points for attention of hexavalent chromium passivation forming dark blue, olive drab, and golden yellow colors, as well as some problems of trivalent chromium passivation were pointed out. Sealing after passivation can improve corrosion resistance and adhesion. Drying/aging is a necessary procedure for passivation.
