大学的本质是研究学术、追求真理、创造知识、创新价值观和培育人才,其最本质的是求真育人,大学文化要建立在这个本质特征之上。大学具有传承文化、选择文化和创新文化的功能,所以它有引领社会先进文化的责任。大学的文化建设重在学校领导和教师的学风建设及人格建设上。大学文化是社会文化的组成部分,大学文化首先要认同社会的主流文化。我们要在各种文化冲突和融合中,选择符合国情,符合我国社会主义核心价值观的优秀文化,创造中国特色的大学新文化。

The essence of a university is for academic research, truth pursuit, knowledge creation, values creation, and talent cultivation, whose real essence is to pursue the truth and educate people. University culture is to be built based on the essential characteristics. A university has the function of inheriting culture, choosing culture and innovating culture. Therefore, a university has the responsibility to lead the social advanced culture. The cultural construction of a university focuses on the school leadership and the construction of teachers＇ style of study and their personalities. University culture is the component of social culture, which should firstly identify with the social mainstream culture. We should choose the excellent culture suitable for our national conditions and our core values, and create new university culture with Chinese characteristics in the various cultural conflicts and blending.
