There is misunderstanding in explaining many modern immunological phenomena with traditional antigen conception. We analyze and define the connotation and denotation of antigen conception with logical thinking. The confirmation of its limitation and inapplicability, we expound that immune response is initiated by ＂danger signal＂ instead of ＇~antigen＂. After discussion about the applicability and rationalization of this point will be helpful for clearly understanding the quintessence about modern immunological conceptions and theories.
