A Discussion of the Concept of Seed Security

从分析种子在粮食生产中的基础地位和先导作用以及由种子安全问题对粮食生产造成的巨大危害和深刻教训入手,阐明了树立种子安全观的必要性和紧迫性,提出了确保粮食安全必须确保种子安全的基本观点和抓好种子科技创新、增强种业核心竞争力等保障种子安全的具体措施。

Starting with the analysis of such issues as the vanguard role and leading position of seeds in food production, the huge harmfulness to food production caused by the seed insecurity and the profound lessons learnt from it, the author expounded the necessity and urgency to set up the concept of seed security, put forward the point of view of ensuring seed security for food security, and proposed measures to be taken for ensuring seed security such as enhancing the innovation in seed science and technology and improving the core-competitiveness in seed industry.
