摘要
本文针对语言学界多年来对语言学科学属性以及研究方法选用等方面的分歧,提出了语言学与自然科学接近但又不完全等同于自然科学的观点,认为语言学的整体发展和方法的选用与自然科学和哲学的发展有着十分紧密的联系,不同的语言学研究方法之间可以互补,所有的研究方法都必须服务于研究目的。
This paper attempts to look at the controversial issues like whether linguistics can be considered a branch of science, where its research methods come from and how to choose the right methods for linguistic research. The basic ideas are： （1） Linguistics is a branch of science, which bears certain semblance of but is not exactly the same as natural sciences; （2） Most of its research methods are borrowed from natural sciences and philosophy; and （3） There are complementarities between different methods and the right choice of research methods entirely depends on whether they can help us to accomplish our research tasks effectively.
