No matter from what angle you look at it.the person who gets to enjoy the fruits of China's auto-industry's overseas acquisitions should not be Li Shufu.president of Chinese automaker-Geely.Despite this, he bought Volvo from Ford for $2bn. During the past year this transaction,unsigned but viewed by the public as a done deal,has induced the most heated and lasting debate about Geely since its birth.On the other hand,the silence towards this acquisition among the 3 biggest state-owned automakers in China(First Automobile Works.SAIC Group,and Dong Feng Motor Co.) has made Geely's Volvo issue seem more or less like a joke,which is in itself dangerous. For a long time.Li Shufu has been viewed by the public as a joke and not a serious automaker.Although he hasn't said anything to refute people's ideas about him.in reality,Li's endurance and stubbornness are too deep to be fathomed.When people comment on this acquisition,monetarily speaking the largest in China's automobile industry history to date,they view Li's action as rash advance beyond his ability.However,as before,they neglect the fact that Li has done a lot of detailed preparation for this Volvo buy-in.
