Abstract For Malpassit arch dam, a wrong type of dam was selected on a wrong dam site. The thickness of an arch dam, its stresses and stability, and the foundation treatment must as a whole conform to the geologieal and topographic conditions of the dam site. The design should be worked out in accordance with the conventional regulations and subject to appraisals by experts from outside.
