庞德一生崇拜和推介中国文化,儒家思想是他翻译和创作的重要源泉。但庞德译介儒经的目的是为了寄托自己的政治理想,并为腐朽的西方社会找到一剂药方,所以,他在翻译中的改写、创造和挪用的成分很多,导致了他对中国文化的误读和歪曲。

Ezra Pound is a great worshipper of Chinese culture and has dedicated his life to the translation of Confucian classics. But the purpose of his translation is to convey his own political ideal and provide a prescription for the corrupt capitalist society. That is why his translations are marked with rewriting, recre- ating and appropriating, resulting in misreading and distortion of Confucianism as well as Chinese culture as a whole.
