Reflecting the"Real"——On Perceptual Effect of Polished Aluminium in SANAA'S Serpentine Pavilion

日本建筑师妹岛和世与西泽立卫(SANAA)合作设计的2009年蛇形夏亭是以抛光铝板作为覆材。与通常讨论材料的本性及文化含义不同,试图从视觉"仿似"的角度,探讨它作为一种反射面材在知觉体验方面的影响;并提出材料并不是中立自足的对象物,而是一种与人的知觉体验密切相关的中介,由此出发,或许会在建筑设计中,为思考材料的选择和运用增加一个新的维度。

Polished aluminium is the cladaing material of 2009 Serpentine Galiery Pavillon designed by SANAA.Instead of focusing its interest in expressing the nature of the material or the cultural meanings it embodles as usual,this paper tries to explore its perceptual effect as a reflective materia in terms of visua ＂resemblance＂,and attempts to argue that building material is not a neutral object in itself,but has a close relationship with perceptual experience,which could add a new dimension to think of the way in which material could be chosen and used in architectural design.
