在明清园林美学发展史上,《长物志》并不能算一部理论性和系统性很强的著作,但是蕴含在该著中的丰富的园林美学思想、环境设计思想和工艺美学思想,集中体现了晚明士大夫的审美情趣,形象展现了当时文人清居生活的物态环境,是研究晚明园林审美文化的重要史料。

In the development of garden aesthetics in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Chang Wu Zhi can not be regarded as a theoretical or systematic book, but it contains abundant aesthetic thoughts, environmental design philosophy and aesthetic thoughts of the craft, revealing the late Ming dynasty literary intelligentsia＇s esthetic appeal. It also demonstrates scholar＇s leisurely life style at that time. Chang Wu Zhi is the important historical data of studying garden aesthetics of the late Ming dynasty.
