On Abstract Writing in Undergraduates' Graduation Thesis of English Majors

基于国际标准(ISO)214-1976(E)和相关国家标准GB6447-86、GB7713-87有关摘要写作规范,英语专业本科毕业论文中文摘要的编写应摘录文献最重要、最有新意的内容和观点,不可重复标题,不可与引言雷同,不带解释性和评论性语言,应使用正式语体;汉译英摘要时书写格式要规范,使用正确的词汇和语法,常用一般现在时,主动语态和被动语态可结合使用,注意语篇的衔接等。要提高学位论文摘要质量,写好中文摘要是前提。

Based on Documentation-Abstracts for Publications and Documentation （ISO） 214-1976 （E）, Rules for Abstracts and Abstracting （GB6447-86） and Presentation of Scientific and Technical Reports, Dissertations and Scientific Papers （GB7713-87）, the author is of the opinion that, the Chinese abstract in undergraduates＇ graduation thesis of English majors, is expected to provide unique and important new ideas or information of the article, avoid repeating words from the title and introduction of the article and using explanatory notes and any comments. In addition, an abstract should be written in formal style. In C-E translation of the abstract, on the other hand, attention should be paid to appropriate writing format, word choices and grammatical rules. The present tense is used much more frequently and the combination of the active voice and the passive voice are encouraged. Moreover, textual coherence strategies should be properly implemented. It is concluded that an effective abstract contributes to improving the quality of the paper.
