The exhaust overheating is a main failure for old marine diesel engine. It affects on not only the reliability and the security for diesel engine but also reducing economic benefit for shipping, and adds the cost of the fuel. New fac tor of failures for diesel engine not to be listed in manual was found by the method of eliminating failures. What is more, the power of diesel engine repaired by new method was upgraded above 35% than that of the traditional overhauling.
