摘要
随着无线通信技术的发展,业务种类和数据量急剧增加,有限的频带资源变得更加紧张。IP报头压缩技术通过压缩IP数据包中的固定冗余部分减少了对带宽的需求。本文描述了IP报头压缩技术及其改进技术的原理,并且通过在典型WCDMA无线信道上的仿真,分析了IP报头压缩技术的性能和优缺点。仿真结果表明,ROCCO压缩算法比CRTP压缩算法对传输错误有更高的容忍度。在保持高压缩率的前提下,ROCCO极大的减小了丢失数据报的概率,因此ROCCO是移动通信中传输实时IP业务的更好选择。
With the development of wireless communication techniques, there has been an ever-increasing demand for all kinds of data services, which makes the already limited spectrum a more scarce resource. IP head compression is a technique that leads to less bandwidth requirements by compressing the fixed and redundant part in IP packets. In this paper, we first elaborate the existing IP head compression algorithms (CRTP and ROCCO), and then compare their performance in the WCDMA system through simulations over the typical wireless channels. Simulation results show that ROCCO is more robust to transmission errors than CRTP. With the high compression rate, ROCCO dramatically decrease the probability of packet loss, and hence is a better choice for real-time service in wireless communications.
