中国城市更新中的社会资本

Social Capital in China's Urban Regeneration

社会资本的概念自从20世纪80年代末期在西方提出,很快在西方城市研究领域得到了广泛关注,以至于有学者将社会资本对很多城市现象的解释能力概括为"一种灵丹妙药"。不过值得注意的是,在中国直至当前,社会资本的概念尚未在城市发展研究或者城市更新当中引起人们足够的重视。为了探讨社会资本在中国城市更新中的表现及其作用,本文首先回顾了社会资本的概念及其在中国城市发展中的现状;接着探讨了在中国城市更新中若干影响社会资本的因素。文章最后指出,要实现完全意义上的城市更新,社会资本在当中发挥着不可或缺的重要作用;而要实现社会资本的积极作用,进行城市更新机制与城市管治模式的变革将是其必由之路。

Since the concept of social capital was produced in western countries in the late 1980s, it has been discussed by academics from every walk of life. It seems as if social capital has been something of a cure-all for the maladies affecting society at home and abroad. Notably, today social capital still has not got people＇ s enough attention in China＇ s urban studies, especially in the fields of urban regeneration. In order to explore the role and performance of social capital in China＇ s urban regeneration, this paper firstly reviews the definitions on social capital as well as its realities in current urban China. Secondly, several key factors affecting the performance of social capital in the regeneration of urban China have been examined. Finally, the paper concludes that in order to accomplish the comprehensive urban regeneration objective, social capital plays an important and indispensable role. To realize social capital＇ s active role and to increase the stock of social capital, the paper underlines that the reformation of current regeneration mechanisms and urban governance modes holds the key.
