英汉语言中数字“九”的对比分析与翻译方法

数字是一种特殊的语言符号,它是语言中用来表示数量或顺序的词类。数字的初始的数字意义在英汉两种语言中基本上是一致的。但在历史的发展过程中,由于受民族心理、宗教信仰、语言崇拜和审美观念等文化差异的影响,数字被赋予各种神秘的象征意义,从而形成各自独特的数字文化。在人类历史的发展过程中,英汉两种语言中的数字符号,虽然有共同的发展规律,但从文化角度进行比较,还是能发现许多明显的差异。本文试图从英汉两种语言中数字"九"的文化差异方面进行探讨,分析这种差异形成的原因,探讨在英汉两种语言中数字"九"的翻译方法。

Figure is a special kind of language sign system and it is used to indicate the sequence or quantity of numbers. In the early days, figure meaning showed no difference in both English and Chinese. But during the development of history, influenced by national psychology, religious belief, language worship and esthetic idea, some figures had been given many mystically symbolic meanings and then formed unique culture respectively. During the development of human history, numeric characters in English and Chinese have common rule of development, but through comparing them from the cultural angle, we found they have many obvious differences. In this article, I try to analyze the cultural differences of the number ＂nine＂ in English and Chinese, and then analyze what caused the difference, finally discuss the translation methods of ＂nine＂.
