Study on the Relation between Sino-Russia Negotiation on Borrowing Money and the Qing Government's Diplomacy of Uniting Russia

1895年,清政府为推动"联俄制日"外交,在为筹措对日赔款的政治借款问题上主动倾向俄国,引起其他列强的不满。俄国也企图通过借款扩大在华利益,在中俄借款谈判中多次提出额外利益索求。清政府未能有效保护本国主权利益,最终向俄国妥协。列强在华利益的竞争更加趋于恶性化,导致清政府进一步陷入外交危机。

To unite Russia to resist Japan that had beaten China in the Sino-Japanese war,the Qing government preferred to Russian on problem of renting money initiatively. But what the Qing government had done made other countries be dissatisfied. Russia wanted to raise its interest in China by way of rent money to the Qing government and asked for extra interest during the negotiation with the Qing Government. In the end ,the Qing government couldn＇t protect its right and interest and had to come to terms with Russia. The competition for interest in China between many powers became more intense.
