Design and appraisal of the beds utilization model in hospitals

床位利用模型评价是评价医疗质量的一种有效方法。本文阐述了床位利用模型设计的指导思想、理论依据,指出床位利用模型设计,应与医疗质量、医疗经费联系起来进行分析研究。床位利用模型所示床位利用水平应控制在一定范围内为最佳质量和经济效益区,其过高或过低均非具有好的效益。床位利用模型的控制包括指标选择、控制标准和标准化计算。床位利用模型评价分为静态评价和动态评价。实践证明床位利用模型加强医院管理,提高医疗质量,具有较高的应用价值。

Beds Utilization Model(BUM) is one of the effective methods to evaluate the medical quality. This article expounds the guiding ideas and conceptual foundation of BUM and proposes that the design of BUM link with medical quality and medical funds.The level of beds utilization shown on the BUM shall be controlled in a certain range where the medical quality is highest and the economic benefit is maximized.Bene- fit can not be too ideal if this level is too high or too low.Control of BUM includes target selection,control standard and standardized calculation.Appraisal of BUM can be conducted in two ways: statically or dynami- cally.Practice has proved that BUM is of high value to be applied for strengthening hospital management and improving the medical quality.
