可持续发展,作为科学发展观基本要求之一,是我们党和国家总结我国社会主义建设的历史经验,汲取世界上工业化国家的历史教训,不断认识和把握经济社会发展规律所作出的一项重大抉择。邓小平同志和江泽民同志一贯重视可持续发展问题,他们认真反思了由一系列人口、资源、环境问题对我国乃至全球经济社会发展带来的影响和危害,对可持续发展问题作了一系列精辟论述,形成了科学而又丰富的可持续发展思想。邓小平可持续发展思想的主要观点是:可持续发展的首要前提是生产力的持续发展;可持续发展的基本要求是正确认识和处理好"四种关系"。江泽民可持续发展思想的本质内容有:要控制人口增长,提高人口素质;要合理利用自然资源;要保护生态环境;要推进人的全面发展。邓小平和江泽民可持续发展思想有着共同的特征:高瞻远瞩的战略性;情真意切的民本性;全面协调的持续性。

As one of the basic requests of the scientific outlook on development ,the idea of sustainable development is the historical experience of socialist construction summarized by our Party and country , the historical lesson derived from the industrialized countries, and a significant choice made in grasping unceasingly the law of economic society development . Comrade Deng Xiaoping and Comrade Jiang Zemin all along take the sustainable development issue as an important question, and they have reconsidered earnestly a series of problems such as populations, resources, environment and the influence and the harm bringing to our country and even the global economic society, thus making a series of penetrating elaboration to the sustainable development question, and forming the scientific and rich sustain- able development thought. The major point of Deng Xiaoping＇ s thought is ： the most important premise of sustainable development is the sustainable development of productive forces;the essential requirement of sustainable development is to understand and deal with ＂four kinds of relations＂ correctly. The essential content of Jiang Zemin＇ s thought on sustainable development includes： population growth must be controlled to improve human quality; the natural resource must be used reasonably;the ecological environment must be protected; hu- man＇ s full scale development must be advanced. Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin＇ s thoughts on sustainable development share the common characteristics ： taking a long - range approach strategic; true human natural disposition ; comprehensively coordinated endurance.
