史书中出现的勿吉、靺羯、靺羯不存在前后相继的关系,三种称呼基本都并存于史书中。勿吉和靺羯是北朝统治者对靺羯的污蔑性称呼。靺羯和渤海都是族称,而非国号。震国是国号,而非俗称。
