地理学从古代地理学一直发展到信息地理学阶段，传统的技术和方法曾一度使地理学的发展陷入困境。如何摆脱这种困境，使地理学的发展跟上时代的步伐？本文将从RS技术和GIS技术的发展、特点及广泛应用等方面，并针对两者的结合，首次提出了“二S”的概念，详细地阐述地理学发展中的“二S”结合从而导致地理学的“腾飞”的问题。

During the time Geography developed from ancient Geography to Hunt Geo-infrmatics,the development of Geography has connected closely with the technology progress in life and production of mankind. But when our society comes to the turning of the century from 20c to 21c, the traditional technology and once made Geography fall into dire straits. How to extricate Geography from the difficult position and make it catch up with the times? The writer here puts forward 'two S' concept for the first time allording to the develpment, chacteristics, extensive application and combination of RS and GIS technology. He also elaborates his opinion tha the combination of 'two S' will cause great development of Geography.
