Zheng Cheng-gong and Taiwan's Place Names

郑成功收复台湾以后,对台湾部分地方进行命名,体现了明朝的文化传统。因缺粮,郑成功命令军队屯田,其军队编制成为部分屯田地区的地名。郑成功逝世后的几百年间,人们为了纪念郑成功,采取用郑成功的名字、官职、尊称等来对地方进行命名。考察台湾地名的产生与发展,可以看出郑成功是对台湾地名影响最大的人物之一,其中也体现了闽南文化与台湾地名的密切关系。

After Taiwan was reoccupied, Zheng Cheng-gong named some places of Taiwan, which embodies cultural tradition of the Ming dynasty. Due to deficiency of food, Zheng Cheng-gong commanded military to reclaim wasteland. The military establishments became the place names of some reclaim wasteland areas. In order to commemorate Zheng Cheng-gong, people adopted Zheng Cheng-gong＇ name, official position and honorific title to name the place. The emergence and development of Taiwan place name shows that Zheng Cheng-gong is one of the most influential person on the Taiwan place name,and embodies close relationship between Minnan culture and Taiwan place name.
