According to the consideration of Ding county culture in Shanxi and the field investigation on the wood carving in the county, the paper introduces the origin and development of the sparrow brace, and analyzes the theme, the content and its manifestation forms and methods of the sparrow brace, so as to have further understanding of folk culture in the south of Shanxi and to enhance the development of the research on the traditional architectural custom.
