This paper analyses the major causes that have made academic research in university libraries lag behind and deals with the issue of how to correctly understand the role of academic research in university libraries, and further it discusses related strategies to solve the problem, such as enhancing awareness of academic research, organizing academic research groups, drafting academic research regulations and conducting exchange and cooperation between departments and colleges.
