元初文坛占据主流的是以北方文士姚燧为代表的汪洋恣肆、雄浑刚健的文风;元仁宗延祐之后,袁桷的散文地位上升,其平易自然、含蓄清丽的风格成为主流。这种风格为南方文士虞集、欧阳玄等人继承并有所发扬,在元代散文中影响深广。

His style of easy and natural, implicit and clean has become the mainstream, which had been succeeded and enlarged by the southern literati such as Yu Ji, Ouyang Xuan, etc. , and exerted a deep influence on the prose writing in Yuan Dynasty.
