An Analysis of the Economic Development along Yunnan-Burma Road

对于滇缅公路,以往的研究大都集中于其修筑过程及其政治、军事意义,而忽略了其对沿线地方经济发展的影响。史料研究显示,滇缅公路对于沿线新兴城镇的崛起、新兴行业的发展及金融和工业变迁都产生了积极的影响。滇缅公路的修筑与开通,一举改变了滇西传统的城镇分布格局。这条公路轴线上集中的社会经济活动通过产品、信息、技术、人员、金融等方式对附近区域有扩散作用。扩散的物质要素和非物质要素作用于附近区域,与当地生产力要素相结合,形成新的生产力,推动了社会经济的发展。

Most of the previous studies on Yunnan - Burma Road focused on its construction process and political and military significance and few were about its influence on the economic development along Yunnan - Burma Road. The historical data have proved that Yunnan - Burma Road exerted much positive influence on the construction of new towns and the development of new industries and business. The successful construction of Yunnan - Burma Road totally changed the pattern of scattered towns and cities in west Yunnan. The social and economic activities through the means of products, information, technology, human resources and finance along this road had their influence on the neighboring regions. The combination of the tangible and intangible elements along this road with the local production elements helped form new productivity and promoted the social and economic development.
