An Analysis of British and French National Financial Problems in the Eighteenth Century

18世纪由于战争频繁,英法两国的国家财政均面临着巨大压力。与英国的财政体制相比,法国的财政体制在总体上存在诸多弊端,既缺乏效率,又有失公平。这一方面不利于法国获取充足的国内外资金,以赢得战争;另一方面,也不利于法国保持国内社会的稳定,最终在与英国的国际对抗中全面败北。

In the eighteenth century,due to frequent wars,British and French national finances were under enormous pressure.Compared with British financial system,the French one,inefficient and unfair,was at a disadvantage in general.This disadvantage not only limited France＇s ability to obtain sufficient funds for winning wars but also affected its domestic social stability,which finanly led to its defeat in the international confrontation with Britain.
