The Origin of Martial Spirit in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty

自古以来,中华民族就有崇文尚武的民族美德,尚武精神历来为中华先民所推崇。其在社会大变迁的东周时期再度兴盛,这是与特定的历史文化因素和民众心理因素密切关联的。通过梳理学界前人的相关论述,发现了目前学界在研究东周社会尚武精神兴盛的原因的领域存在的薄弱环节。本文从其兴盛状况起笔,系统分析东周社会的地理环境、军事战争、国家政策、经济因素等方面的原因,深层次探求东周社会尚武之缘由和文化实质。

Since ancient times, the Chinese nation has had the national virtue of advocating culture andwarrior. Martial spirit has been highly valued by ancient Chinese peoples. It＇s thriving in Eastern Zhou Dynasty again, the new and old dynasties alternating, which is related to special history and cultural elements, and psychological factor of the public. In terms of some materials concerning this field, this paper purports to point out some weaknesses of the study about the reasons why martial spirit was thriving in Eastern Zhou Dynasty. It will discuss its thriving situations, and systematically analyze the reasons from geographical environment, military war, national policy, economic elements, and have an in-depth discussion on reasons of warrior in Eastern Zhou Dynasty and cultural essence.
