Convercation Analysis of English TV Talk Shows in China: A Study Based on the Data from The Main Talk

目前,英语电视访谈节目在中国越来越受欢迎,它作为一种特殊的传播话语形式,显示出其混合了日常会话与机构话语的特点。由于访谈话语本质上是一种会话,通过会话分析理论分析了在中文语境下英语访谈节目的特点并期望借此有助于对这类节目的理解、欣赏及改进。

English TV talk shows have been more and more popular in China currently, and talk show as a particular type of broadcasting discourse exhibits mixed characteristics of both casual conversation and institutional discourse. Since talk show discourse is by nature a type of conversation, this paper analyzes the features of English talk shows in Chinese setting through conversation analysis, and expects to offer new insights into the understanding and appreciation of this kind of programs and help to improve them.
