印裔美国后殖民作家芭拉蒂.穆克吉的创作可以分为三个时期,即从探索第三世界自我流放者的流亡意识,到考察其向移民定居意识的转变过渡,再到探索这种定居意识的扎根,亦即完成自我身份的"文化翻译"和文化定位。某种程度上,穆克吉的跨文化三期书写可以视为对后殖民作家奈保尔的模仿与超越。
The writing of Bharati, an Indian American post-colonial writer, can be divided into three stages. These three stages include the sense of exile of emigrants from the third world, the sense of inhabitants and the sense of settlement, which means cultural translation and cultural location of their identities. The three stages of Bharati Mukherjee's trans-cultural writing, to some extent, can be taken as an imitation and transcendence of the post-colonial writer V. S. Naipaul.
