Most members of the Ewenki minority group live in Aoluguya,a former hunting village in Da Xing’an Mountains,in Heilongjiang Province,in northeastern China.Nowadays,they raise reindeer.It is believed the lifestyle of the Ewenki,which is one of China’s 56 ethnic groups,dates back a few hundred years. Although traditions die hard,some Ewenkis,such as Gu Gejun and his family,are earning a living in the new economy.Gu’s family,for example,has a tourism-related business.
