Neuroglobin A new O2-binding globin

脑红蛋白是继血红蛋白、肌红蛋白之后发现的第三类可运输与储存氧的球蛋白，主要在脑中表达，与氧有很高的亲和力，能够特异性地向脑组织供氧，在神经系统氧的摄取、运输和利用等生理过程中起着极其重要的作用。神经元缺氧和脑缺血能诱导脑红蛋白高表达，具有神经保护作用，为临床脑缺血缺氧疾病的防治提供了新思路。

In addition to the well known hemoglobin and myoglobin, neuroglobin is the third discovered oxygen-cat-tying globin, which is mainly expressed in brain. Because neuroglobin has a great affinity for oxygen, can reversibly bind oxygen and specifically supply oxygen to the brain, it plays an important part in uptake,transportation and utilization of oxygen in nerve tissues. The up-regulated expression of neuroglobin in human brain implies that neuroglobin plays an important role in protecting neurons from cerebral ischemia/hypoxia injury. It will provide new sights and approaches for the clinical study of ischemic/hypoxic injury of brain.
