摘要
本文针对目前大学英语教学和大学英语四、六级考试的改革进行反思,从外语学习角度讨论改革的三个要点:(1)大学阶段英语教学以听说训练为主;(2)运用计算机技术辅助英语学习;(3)利用大学英语四、六级考试推进改革。笔者提出一系列改革建议,其中包括:我国公共英语教学的重心应从大学下移至中小学;逐步取消目前的大学公共英语课;大学为每一个专业(英语专业除外)的学生至少挑选一门专业课,采用英语教材,聘用对口专业的海归人员或外籍教师,实施全英语教学,注入交际需要,提高英语学习动力;大胆解放思想,尽快将大学英语四、六级考试推向社会,与大学英语教学和学习脱钩。
This paper gives a critical review of the current on-going reform of College English Test (CET) and English teaching at college in China. Three issues are discussed from the L2 learning perspective. They are : ( 1 ) priority should be given to the improvement of listening and speaking skills ; ( 2 ) computer technology should be exploited to aid English learning and teaching; (3) CET should be changed to fit in with the reform. Following the discussion, the author suggests measures for improving English teaching and learning. For example, great emphasis should be placed on English teaching at primary and secondary schools rather than at college. Current English courses at college should be gradually replaced by content-based courses taught in English. At least one subject at college should be taught in English to motivate students to learn English and the teacher of the subject can be employed from among overseas returnees or native speakers of English. CET should be divorced from college English teaching and used for social needs.
