The Philosophy Embodied in Roger Ames’ Translation of Analects

安乐哲教授的《论语》翻译（与罗思文合作）过程实际上是把《论语》作为一种介质进行的中西哲学的对话：通过对中西哲学的对比、融通,他努力从中国文化自身的传统出发,谋求对孔子思想做出新的阐释,以揭除长期以来＂西方文化中心主义＂对孔子思想本来面目的遮蔽,并借此证明孔子思想对西方哲学传统的反思重构价值,为批判和改造西方文化传统的缺陷提供智源。在具体的翻译过程中,主要采用了异化的翻译策略。

The process of Roger Ames translating Analects（together with Henry Rosemont,Jr.） is indeed a dialogue between Chinese and Western philosophies with Analects as a medium;through ideas from a perspective of Chinese traditional culture in order to remove the long-term misunderstanding of Confucius ideas by＂Western cultural centralism＂and to show the role Confucius ideas play in the self-reflection and reconstruction of values in Western philosophical tradition,and the criticism and reform of Western cultural tradition.In the process of translation,the strategy of foreignization is mainly adopted.
