U.S. Dollar Hegemony and the Reform of International Monetary System:On the Issue of RMB Internationalization

本文主要研究美元霸权和国际货币体系改革。文章首先分析了美元霸权的几个特点,指出美国的贸易赤字和财政赤字可以通过美元滥发来融通,美元的问题变成了世界的问题;其次考察了超主权储备货币体系的改革,指出超主权储备货币改革面临多重难题,现实的选择是建立多样化的国际货币体系;最后探讨了人民币国际化问题,指出我国应发挥人民币在国际货币体系改革中的作用,推进人民币国际化进程,人民币国际化既有机遇又有挑战。

The paper studies the U. S. dollar hegemony and the reform of international monetary system. Firstly, the paper analyzes several features of U. S. dollar hegemony. It points out that the U. S. trade deficit and fiscal deficit can be filled by the over-issue of U. S. dollar, and the U. S. dollar problem becomes the world＇s one. Secondly, the paper examines the reform of super-sovereign reserve currency system. It concludes that the reform of supersovereign reserve currency encounters many difficulties and the actual choice is to establish diversified international monetary system. Finally, the paper discusses the issue of RMB internationalization. China should attach great importance to the role of RMB in the reform of international monetary system and push forward RMB internationalization. It also emphasizes both of the opportunities and challenges of RMB internationalization.
