巴洛克时期的意大利歌剧在艺术上实现了与宗教的分离,趋向世俗化和人性化,封建的、神学的、禁欲主义的桎梏被打破了,个性解放的直接结果是爱情成为音乐强烈、突出的主题。虽然这个时期的意大利歌剧音乐过于依赖剧词,音乐在旋律、节奏和形式上均缺乏特性,但却是此后歌剧发展的一个基础,成为巴洛克时期艺术领域中最耀眼的一颗珍珠。具有重要的美学价值和实践参考意义。
