Reconsidering English Culture Teaching under the Background of Globalization

文化教学是英语教学重要的组成部分,学生的跨文化交际能力也是英语教学的重要目标之一。在全球化背景下,英语作为国际语,其地位已得到确立和承认。英语国际化和本土化势的趋势必要求我们重新审视英语及其文化教学的目标、内容和方式等。从全球化的角度重新审视了全球化背景下英语的性质,探讨目前英语文化教学中存在的亟待解决问题,同时提出一些建设性的建议,以期引起对英语文化教学的重新认识与重视。

Culture teaching is the important ingredient and the fostering of the students＇ cross-cultural communicative ability is also one of the essential goals in English teaching. With the development of globalization, English, as an international language, has been accepted and established its position around the world. The internalization and localization of English make it necessary for us to reconsider the teaching objectives, content, methods and so on. Beginning from the globalization perspective, this paper redefines the nature of English, discusses the problems that need to be resolved in time in English culture teaching and provides some tentative suggestions with the expectation of provoking reconsideration of and emphasis on culture teaching.
