随着国际贸易竞争日趋激烈,时间、速度和效率显得尤为重要。商务英语信函已从文风繁缛的时代逐渐过渡到了简洁、精练的写作风格。这是语言发展本身的要求,也是商务书信基本原则的体现。根据语言的经济原则,通过大量例证,提出若干商务信函的用词策略,希望能对商务英语学习者与商务英语工作者有所裨益。

With increasingly fierce competition in international trade, time, speed and efficiency have been put to a predominant place. A simple and concise writing style in international English correspondence, taking the place of the cliches, has become popular nowadays. This is a reflection of the development of language in itself and the basic principles of business letters as well. This paper aims at studying the strategies of word selection in international business letters through a lot of examples from the perspective of the economy principle. The author expects not only business English learners but also practitioners in trade will benefit frm this paper.
