万斯同生于明清鼎革之际,一生历经磨难,为学观念凡三变。不变的是他从家世出发的故国世家情怀,以及在此基础上继续了明清浙东学派真儒问题的探讨,并把深藏心底的世家故国情怀衍生出能支撑起他现实世界和意义世界的一块平衡木。为此,他隐忍史局,决心为故国招魂。

Wan Si-tong was born in the time which changed from Qing dynasty to Ming dynasty, he experienced many misfortunes in his life and pursued his studies in which he had three changes in his concepts. But what remained unchanged is that his feeling of motherland based on the old and well-known family. Also he continued to probe into the problem of great Confucian in the East of Zhejiang Province Academy. At the same time a ＂balance beam＂ deriving from his feeling of family and country deep in his heart sustained his real life and ideal life. Therefore he hid himself and never cut a figure, and determined to write down the history of his declined motherland..
