Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps of the Army is a special and unique organization both in China and in the world. It appears as an enterprise and serves as an important force to promote the economic con- struction in Xinjiang. It also undertakes the duty to defend the frontier of the country, to carry out political power and social construction. Actually it is an integrated and complete power organization of the army, political institu-tion, society, and business. In China＇sactive political stage it plays the function of the army and the civilian.
