Objective To explore the relationship of blood lipid level and body mass index (BMI) with prognosis of breast cancer patients with both estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) negative. Methods A follow-up was carried oat in breast cancer patients with both ER and PR negative during the period of consolidating the therapeutic effect. The recrudescence and metastasis rate and the fatality rate in patients with normal blood lipid level and BMI before operation were compared with those in patients with abnormal blood lipid level and BMI. Results The recrudescence and metastasis rate and the fatality rate in patients with abnormal blood lipid level and BMI were higher than those in the patients with normal blood lipid level and BMI (P 〈 0. 05 ), and were the highest in patients with BMI ≥25 (P 〈 0.05 compared with those patients with BMI 〈 25). Conclusion The correlation is shown between the prognosis of breast cancer patients and the increase of blood lipid level and BMI.
