《说文》and《玉篇》:-歺 Characters and Meaning Analysis and Comparison

《说文》是一部分析字形、解释字义的篆书字典,《玉篇》则是按《说文》体例编撰的一本楷书字典。这两部书都对字义有所阐释,然而释义的重点有所不同,《玉篇》已不再局限于说明文字的造字本义,而是在文献用字的基础上,对其意义加以注释,因而字头下不止一个义项。这两部书在训诂学上都有重要的意义。文章仅对两书中的"歺"部字意义进行分析,按词义对词进行聚合,然后比较两书在释义上的不同点。

《说文》（shuo wen） is a dictionary to analyze seal script characters, 《玉篇》 （yu plan） is a dictionary compiled in the 《说文》 style to collect the regular script characters. Both dictionaries explain the Chinese characters though there are some differences between them. The method to explain the characters in 《玉篇》 is no longer confined to the original meanings of the characters, the meanings used in the context is its main content, so there are more than one meaning for a character. These two are very important dictionaries. This article analyzes the meanings of the characters with -歺 and review a comparison between 《说文》 and 《玉篇》.
