宏日报以广言路——何启、胡礼垣的新闻思想

Enlarge Saying Channels by Promoting Dailies——A Discussion on He Qi and Hu Li-yuan’s News Thoughts

何启、胡礼垣是中国近代著名的早期维新思想家,虽然他们没有直接办过报纸,但是,他们在《新政议论》中所提出的新闻思想在中国近代新闻史上具有重要的地位。他们把"宏日报以广言路"作为中国政治改革的措施之一,进一步提高了当时社会对新闻事业重要性的认识;他们对晚清政府压制报纸和言论自由进行了猛烈地抨击,表现了知识分子强烈的社会责任意识与胆略勇气;他们认为日报的最大好处是"长人之见闻""生人之思虑",有助于人们对报纸作用的了解;他们提倡新闻记者要具有"直笔"和"公平"的精神,对于记者道德品质和职业精神的培养有一定的作用。

In the early days, He Qi and Hu Li-yuan are well-known innovatory ideologists in China. Though they had not nan a newspaper directly, their journalistic thoughts in the ＂New Deal Arguments＂ counted for much in modem history of journalism. They regarded ＂Enlarge saying channels by promoting dailies＂ as a way of China＇s political reform, thus raising more awareness of the importance of journalism; They attacked fiercely on late Qing dynastic government because of its suppression on the news and free speech, which showed the intellects＇ strong social responsibility and strategyic courage; In their opinion, the most advantage of daily paper is ＂open the mind＂, ＂engender human thoughtfulness＂, which helped people know the role of the newspaper; They called for journalists＇ free-spoken and justice spirit which is beneficial for cultivating reporters＇ moral qunlities and professionalism.
