The authors of this article briefly discussed the history and value of literature on clinical misdiagnosis, indicating that there has been a lack of unified criteria of misdiagnosis in the current literature on misdiagnosis. It was expounded that there should be concepts of the theory, study method, research objectives and standards in misdiagnostic research.Moreover,the authors evaluated the theory of misdiagnostics and the study of China Database of Literature on Misdiagnosis now under investigation.
